Here's an overview of notable incidents reported around the Castro since our last crime roundup.

All reports come from the police department's daily recaps, unless otherwise noted.

Suspect slashes smoker outside bar on Market Street

On December 31st at 1:30am, a 57-year-old man left a bar near Church and Market to smoke a cigarette. As he finished, an unknown person cloaked in a blanket made a slashing motion towards his leg.

When the man re-entered the bar, he realized that he had been cut with a sharp object. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, but his assailant was not apprehended.

Upper Terrace home robbed while owner sleeps

Overnight between 11pm on December 29th and 2:45am on December 30th, a 50-year-old woman was the victim of a hot prowl while she slept at her residence near Upper Terrace and Back Alley Way.

She awoke to find that an unknown suspect had stolen laptops, a tablet, and a wallet from her living room.

Burglar steals bicycle from Castro home

On December 28th at 7:38pm, a 42-year-old man was upstairs in his residence near Sanchez and 17th when he heard an unknown suspect enter his garage.

When the resident went to investigate, he saw his garage door closing and a bicycle missing.

Woman scares away intruder

On the morning of December 27th at 5:55am, a 49-year-old woman was in her bedroom near Dolores and 16th streets when she heard someone enter her front door.

After yelling and making loud noises, she saw a male suspect in his thirties leave her home. The suspect reportedly stole a key.

Trash can fire leads to arrest

Also on the 27th at 8:34pm, a 27-year-old man lit a trash can on fire near Diamond and 17th. SFFD arrived and put the fire out and the suspect was arrested.

Armed robber brandishes knife

On December 22nd, between 6 and 6:30pm, a 36-year-old woman was walking near 18th and Castro when two suspects, 25-30, approached her from behind.

The first suspect pushed her while the second pulled out a knife and demanded her property. The suspects fled with the victim's jacket, bag, phone, and money. 

Within minutes, two armed robberies in Duboce Triangle

Early on December 21st, at 1:05 and 1:06am, two armed robberies occurred very close to one another. The first took place near 15th and Noe, where 2 male suspects in their 20s approached a 37-year-old man, pointed a handgun at the older victim, and stole his money, bag, and laptop before fleeing on foot.

Shortly after, a single male suspect, 25-30, exited a vehicle near Duboce and Sanchez, pointed a gun at a 59-year-old man, and stole his wallet and money before fleeing in the suspect's vehicle.

No arrests were made in either incident, and police have not indicated any connection between the two reports.

Burglar targets workplace

Later on the 21st, between 5:25-5:45pm, a 22-year-old woman was the victim of a hot prowl at her work near Sanchez and 14th. The woman left work while a co-worker was still present, and the door was left open.

When the victim returned, she found that an unknown suspect had stolen clothing, her wallet, ID, money, and credit cards. No arrest was made.
