Oakland Weekend: First Caturday At Lake Merritt, 'FreshCatch' Crab Feast, MorePhoto: Fresh Catch/Facebook

The first weekend of 2018 brings rainy weather, but Oaklanders aren't made of sugar, so there's no reason to dawdle indoors.

Although First Friday outdoor street parties are canceled, gallery spaces, bars and other indoor venues are still marking the occasion in the KONO district. Also tonight, Grammy-award winners Pacific Mambo Orchestra perform at Yoshi's.

First Caturday tomorrow afternoon will give area felines a chance to strut their stuff in a group setting at Lake Merritt. Bring your cat (costume optional) along with a harness and leash to Grand and Bellevue to join the fun from 1:30 to 4:30pm.

On Sunday, FreshCatch celebrates its first year in business with a crab feast at Temescal Brewing. For $30-$75, diners can select from a menu that includes garlic noodles, roasted Dungeness crab, rock crab, and other selections.

Here's a look at other events happening around Oakland over the next few days:

Friday, January 5

Saturday, January 6

Sunday, January 7
