[Update: 5:19pm] According to SFPD, paramedics who responded to a call about an unconscious person on the 500 block of Post Street rendered assistance, but the victim succumbed at the scene.

A Medical Examiner who evaluated the victim's injuries "determined they were consistent with a homicide," said police.

After conducting interviews and gathering evidence, police followed leads to a residence in Petaluma where officers conducted a search today with assistance from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office and Petaluma Police. Three people of interest have been detained in connection with the investigation.

Police are investigating the city's sixth homicide of the year after finding an unidentified body in Lower Nob Hill last night.

The deceased person, described as a male aged 30 or 31, was discovered on the 500 block of Post Street between Mason and Taylor at 6:33pm.

At this time, police have not released the victim's identity, a suspected cause of death, or an exact location where his body was found, but we'll update this story as more information becomes available.

Anyone who has information about this incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
