An assault early this morning in the Upper Haight left a man with life-threatening injuries, police have reported.

The incident occurred near the corner of Haight and Shrader streets around 4:20am when a 64-year-old man was attacked by a male suspect approximately 25 to 30 years old.

The suspect inflicted injury by punching the victim before fleeing the scene. No arrests have been made in the case and the victim has been hospitalized in serious condition.
