Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in the area since our last roundup in early February. All reports were provided by SFPD, unless otherwise noted. 

Resident awakened by burglar

On April 8th at 9am, a 77-year-old man who lives on the 1000 block of Franklin Street was lying in bed when he heard a noise and saw a suspect approximately 30 years old enter his bedroom.

The suspect turned and exited the apartment, but not before stealing the victim's wallet.

Armed robber steals necklace offered for sale

A 23-year-old man made plans to sell a necklace to a male suspect between the ages of 17 and 19 near the corner of Buchanan and Sacramento streets on April 7th around 3:20pm, but the suspect snatched the item and ran away.

The victim chased the suspect down, but when confronted, he brandished a handgun and fled on foot.

Hot prowler steals purse from occupied home

On April 4th between 6pm and 8pm, a 72-year-old woman returned to her home on the 1900 block of Bush Street, put her purse on the couch and thought she locked the door.

Afterwards, an unknown suspect entered her residence and stole her purse, which contained credit and debit cards, as well as a wallet. The victim became aware of the theft when her bank alerted her to suspicious activity on her account.

Muni cellphone robbery

A 45-year-old woman was on a Muni bus on March 28th just before noon at the intersection of Buchanan and Hayes when a 20-year-old man snatched her phone and fled off the bus. No arrests have been made in the case.

Cigarette break turns into bicycle robbery

A 48-year-old woman was smoking a cigarette at Cleary and Laguna streets on March 21st at 6:45pm together with a 19- to 24-year-old man. When she prepared to depart on a bicycle, her companion shoved her to the ground, took her bike and fled in an unknown direction.

Auto break-in leads to assault

On March 19th, just after 8pm, a 31-year-old man confronted three men in their twenties when he discovered that they'd broken into his vehicle to steal a purse and wallet.

After he gave chase, the suspects assaulted him, leaving him with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was taken to a hospital, and no arrests were made.

Suspect steals electric scooter 

On March 14th, a few minutes before 8:30pm, a 39-year-old man was renting an electric scooter when an unknown suspect approached him from behind at Franklin and Oak streets. The suspect pushed him to the ground and stole the scooter, which was later recovered.
