Looking to try the best steakhouses in town?

1. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse

Topping the list is the family-owned Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. Located at 10477 Lombardy Lane in Northwest Dallas, the steakhouse offering traditional American cuisine is the highest rated high-end steakhouse in the city, boasting 4.5 stars out of 732 reviews on Yelp. Pappas Bros. has two other steakhouses in Houston and dozens of other restaurants, from casual to upscale, in seven states.

It's no surprise that the menu focuses heavily on steak, with filet mignon, New York strip and porterhouse options. Striving to be "a once-in-a-lifetime experience," the restaurant also offers lobster deviled eggs, lamb chops and pan-seared sea bass. (See full menu here.)

2. Perry's Steakhouse & Grille - Uptown Dallas

Next up is Perry's Steakhouse & Grille - Uptown Dallas, situated at 2000 McKinney Ave., Suite 100. With 4.5 stars out of 679 reviews on Yelp, the steakhouse and traditional American spot, serving seafood and more, has proven to be a local favorite for those looking to indulge. Another chain with locations in Texas and beyond, Perry's touts its fresh-cut prime beef and signature pork chop. Close to the Ritz Carlton Hotel, the steakhouse features five private dining rooms and a wine wall with over 5,000 bottles. (Check out the website for the full menu.)

Although steak isn't in the name, Eddie V's Prime Seafood in Oak Lawn is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the fancy steakhouse and seafood spot 4.5 stars out of 516 reviews. Located at 4023 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 110, the upscale chain is known for its impeccable service and ambiance. Add lobster or king crab to one of the many hand-cut steaks, like the 22-ounce prime bone-in ribeye. For a very special night out, there's Petrossian caviar and the elevated pairing of Champagne and oysters.

4. The Capital Grille

A large international chain, with a location in Mexico City, The Capital Grille in Uptown is still a much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 365 Yelp reviews. Head over to 500 Crescent Court to see for yourself.

The steaks may be the star with Gorgonzola-crusted dry-aged New York strip with cherry cabernet reduction and a porcini-rubbed ribeye, but the salads also deserve top billing, including roasted beet and goat cheese, and the classic wedge with blue cheese and smoked bacon.

5. Nick & Sam's

Over in Oak Lawn, check out Nick & Sam's, which has earned four stars out of 885 reviews on Yelp. Treat yourself at the steakhouse, which offers seafood and more, by heading over to 3008 Maple Ave.

Founded in 1999 by restauranteur Phil Romano, the restaurant has dim lighting and seating areas in the bar and the formal dining area with grand piano. Choose your cut of meat, from prime-aged ribeye to filet mignon, from a large steak board brought out by your server. On the seafood menu, try the sesame-crusted ahi tuna, salmon with mustard miso glaze or the lobster tail. (Full menu on website.)
