A plain clothes officer was injured in a hit-and-run in the Tenderloin yesterday afternoon, but the driver suspected in the incident was arrested a short while later in the Richmond district, according to SFPD.

The officer was in the crosswalk heading south across Eddy on the west side of Larkin around 3:00pm when he was struck by a blue Mercedes. The driver fled the scene, and the officer was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police closed the area to traffic for nearly two hours as investigators processed the scene.

At approximately 3:17pm, police stopped a blue Mercedes near 26th and California streets in the Richmond district that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. After questioning, the driver, San Francisco resident Marisa Androvich, 18, was arrested and booked into County Jail on felony hit-and-run charges.

The intersection of Eddy and Larkin reopened to traffic at 5:04pm, and the injured officer, an 18-year veteran assigned to Southern Station, was released from the hospital later in the evening.

Although police have a suspect in custody, anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
