Time for another look at notable crimes reported in the Tenderloin district in the two weeks since our last roundup. Unless otherwise noted, all details are from SFPD reports.

Purse snatchers rob woman in Union Square

Around 1:00 a.m. on May, a 41-year-old woman was in Union Square when two men pushed her down, stole her purse, and fled the scene. No arrests have been made.

Man stabbed after verbal argument

A 40-year-old man got into bar fight with people outside a business on the 100 block of Ellis Street (near Powell) around 2:05 a.m. on May 1 when a man said to be in his twenties stabbed him.

The victim ran into a nearby building, where security called the police. The suspect has not been identified.

Men stabbed with unknown object

Two men, 23 and 21 years old, were approached by a man said to be in his late thirties on the 800 block of Market Street (near Stockton) around 9:00 p.m. on April 28.

The unknown suspect stabbed the two victims with an unknown object and fled the scene. The victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Violent kicker arrested

Around 7:00 p.m. on April 28, a 40-year-old man punched a 54-year-old man near the intersection of 6th and Market streets. The older man fell to the ground, where the suspect kicked him and knocked him out.

The suspect was arrested and the victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Man punched, robbed after preventing illegal entry

Just before 7:55 p.m. on April 27, three men in their early twenties were trying to enter a building on the unit block of McAllister Street where a 25-year-old man lived. The victim tried to stop the suspects, who punched him multiple times and stole his phone. No arrests have been made.

Man arrested after stairwell robbery

Two men, 33 and 19 years old, were in the stairwell of a building on the 400 block of Jones Street (near Ellis) around 2:05 p.m. on April 27 and encountered a 27-year-old man with a knife.

The suspect stole the older man’s jacket at knife point. The two victims ran to the building’s front desk and called 911. When the police arrived, they located and arrested the suspect.

Man punched, robbed in two-on-one assault

Around 12:21 a.m. on April 25, two men confronted a 52-year-old man near the intersection of Turk and Leavenworth streets. One suspect, said to be in his thirties, punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground, and stole his wallet. No arrests have been made.

Man arrested after stealing woman’s phone

A 42-year-old man pushed a 53-year-old woman down and stole her cellphone on the 700 block of O’Farrell Street (near Hyde) around 10:20 p.m. on April 24. The suspect was later arrested.

Man arrested after assault with cane

Two men, aged 54 and 59, had an argument on the 200 block of Jones Street (near Turk) around 11:39 a.m. on April 23. The older man hit the younger one with his cane, sparking a physical altercation. The older man was taken into custody.

Women assaulted, robbed by two men

Two 21-year-old women were walking near the intersection on Turk and Jones streets around 2:30 a.m. on April 23 when two men said to be 24 years old approached them from behind.

The two men punched one of the women and pushed the second to the ground. The suspects got away with the women’s passports, cellphones, and money.

Violent kicker arrested, this time female

Around 10:20 a.m. on April 22, a 38-year-old woman approached a 66-year-old man near the intersection of Eddy and Cyril Magnin streets and started kicking him. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and went in and out of consciousness, and police arrested his assailant.

Man suffers life-threatening injuries in group assault

Just after midnight on April 22, a 48-year-old man was walking near the intersection of 7th and Market streets when he was approached by a group of men, two of whom assaulted him.

The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injures and his wallet was stolen during the assault. No arrests have been made.
