Craving French food? Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top French restaurants around Baltimore, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to meet your needs.

1. Charleston Restaurant

Topping the list is Charleston Restaurant. Located at 1000 Lancaster St. in Inner Harbor, this spot is the highest rated French restaurant in Baltimore, boasting 4.5 stars out of 394 reviews on Yelp.

From executive chef and co-owner Cindy Wolf, expect menu options such as lobster soup with curry, steak tartare, pan-roasted sea scallops and grilled French quail. Pair your fare with one of the hundreds of wines in the cellar. The full menu can be seen here. 

2. B&O American Brasserie

Downtown's B&O American Brasserie, located at 2 N. Charles St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the brasserie and cocktail bar four stars out of 469 reviews. The restaurant is housed in a historic Beaux Arts building that once served as the headquarters of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, per the eatery's website.

The locally sourced, seasonal fare includes shareable plates like duck wings, smoked salmon hushpuppies and fire-roasted octopus. For dinner, the menu features bison short rib with smashed potatoes, ricotta gnocchi with morel mushrooms and a cast-iron crabcake with warm orzo artichoke salad.

3. La Cuchara

Over in the Jones Falls area, check out La Cuchara, which specializes in cuisine from the Basque regions of Paris and France. The restaurant has earned four stars out of 230 reviews on Yelp and is located at 3600 Clipper Mill Road, Suite 125.

On the menu, start off with manchego queso, ham croquettes or calamari with scallions. Entrees include lamb shoulder with faro salad and rockfish with crispy green tomato.

Thirsty? Grab a cocktail, red or white wine or a draft beer. Cocktails include the rye-infused David's Lane complete with gin, rosso and Campari, and the Gin Fluff Du Jour with lemon, egg white and orange blossom water. The full menu can be seen here.
