A request for a cigarette lighter preceded an armed carjacking early this morning in Lower Pacific Heights, police have reported.

The incident took place around 1:15 a.m. near the intersection of Octavia and Sutter streets when two male suspects approached a 45-year-old woman who was driving a red Mazda and one asked if he could use her lighter.

When the victim checked her purse to look, the suspect produced a gun, struck her in the head, and dragged her out of the car. After she was incapacitated, both suspects got into her vehicle and drove westbound on Sutter Street.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and complained of head pain, but refused medical treatment.

Anyone who has information about this incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
