1st Friday Founders Fireside Chat - Art Meets Tech

Head into the weekend with an interactive discussion about the intersection of art and technology on the rooftop of the Kapor Center for Social Impact. 

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Erin Pangilinan of O'Reilly Media will moderate a discussion with panelists Kamal Hubbard, Clorama Dorvilias and Megan Maloney about art, blockchain, investments, AI,  AR and VR. 

You'll have to RSVP before the event and according to its page, doors will close at 7 p.m. 

When: Friday, July 6, 5:30-8 p.m.

Hoodslam - #AMERICA

For something rowdier, head over to the Oakland Metro Operahouse tonight at 8:30 p.m. for your monthly dose of Hoodslam.

According to the page, you'll see "trained professional wrestlers that party harder, mixed with live music, burlesque, cosplay and drams we can't forget." So get there early, grab a drink and enjoy the show.

An Evening of Solo Performance & Comedy: SOLO SHOWDOWN! [Saturday]

For a night of laughter and fun, head over to Jeffrey Bihr Studio tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. for the solo showdown performance and comedy workshop.

On stage, you'll see Faruk Ates, Shannon Hughes, Bruce Grosse, Kelly LaValley and David Schiller. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin promptly at 7 p.m. 

When: Saturday, July 7, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Where: Jeffrey Bihr Studio, 5390 Miles Ave.
Admission: $15 (VIP Reserved Seating)

Comedy Machine

Additionally, you can catch a night of comedy machine at Spice Monkey Restaurant and Bar tomorrow night at 7 p.m. According to the event listing, it's a "one night, three-round comedy tournament featuring eight comedians all competing to be chosen as the champion."

There is a two-item minimum per person and unfortunately, the venue is not wheelchair accessible.

The Futurelics Record Release Party

Top off your Saturday night with The Futurelics at Starline Social Club. For those that don't know the group, they are "the new age fusion of funk, soul, jazz, blues and hip hop. Inspired by the greats, they are the keepers of the flame."

The record release party will feature performances and sounds by Siri, Freshie, DJ Kream and Amerigo Gazaway. 

When: Saturday, July 7, 9 p.m.- Sunday, July 8 1 a.m.
