It's time for another look at the notable crimes reported in the Castro since our last roundup. All details are from SFPD reports, unless otherwise noted. 

Victim scares away home burglar

Early on July 16th at 12:02 a.m., a 40-year-old woman was in her house near Douglass and 21st when she heard footsteps inside her home. She walked up some stairs and shouted at an unknown suspect, who ran out the front door and fled in a vehicle. The suspect stole a lockbox and key.

Would-be bike thief arrested after threatening man in store

Also in the early hours of July 16th, at 3:51 a.m., a 25-year-old man was in a store near 18th and Castro with his bicycle when a 56-year-old man brandished a screwdriver and demanded the younger man's bike. The victim gave the suspect his bicycle; police then arrived and arrested the suspect.

Twin Peaks robbery

Early on July 15th, at 1:43 a.m., two 25-year-old men were sitting in a car parked at Twin Peaks when two male suspects, 25-28, approached the vehicle and told them to get out of their car. When the victims exited their vehicle, the suspects went through the car and stole cash before fleeing in another vehicle.

Douglass hot prowl

Overnight between July 9th-10th, a 51-year-old man was burglarized in his home near Douglass and 18th. An unknown suspect opened and entered the victim's garage before rummaging through his vehicle and taking items, including money, a speaker and the garage door opener.

3-person assault over radio sends victim to hospital

On July 9th at 11 p.m., a 54-year-old man was walking near 19th and Dolores when three younger men, 18-23, approached him and demanded his radio. The suspects assaulted the victim and cut his leg before taking his radio and money and fleeing. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

5-person assault ends in arrests

On July 6th at 8:20 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was approached by a 16-year-old male suspect near 18th and Church. The suspect took the woman's phone and fled on foot. The victim chased him, but was assaulted by four female suspects, 16-18. The suspects fled on foot, but were later arrested.
