Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in Hayes Valley and the Western Addition since our last roundup in early June. All reports were provided by SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Mugger slashes woman with broken bottle

On July 7 at 6:40 a.m., a 43-year-old woman was approached by a 20-year-old male suspect near Elm and Gough streets who demanded her money under the threat of violence. The suspect then cut her on the arm with a broken glass bottle and fled southbound on Gough Street.

The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds, and no arrest has been made in the case.

Man tackles woman, steals phone

On July 5 at 11:37 p.m., a 34-year-old woman walking a dog near Steiner and Bush streets was tackled from behind by a 20-year-old man who stole her cellphone and fled on foot.

Suspects rob woman walking dog

On July 3, a 28-year-old woman was walking a dog on Ivy and Buchanan streets around noon when an 18-year-old man approached her and asked to see her phone.

Another similarly-aged male suspect stood behind her, and she refused the request, but when the first suspect grabbed her arm before preparing to strike her, she handed over the device. 

Suspect strikes woman in face with scissors

On June 27, at the corner of Oak and Buchanan streets around 7:50 p.m., a 36-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were arguing when the man, who was sitting inside a Toyota Prius, threw a pair of scissors that struck the woman in the face.

The suspect was arrested at the scene for assault with a deadly weapon, and the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Attempted cellphone robbery on Muni

A woman and a man, both 24, were aboard a Muni bus at Fillmore and McAllister streets shortly after 10 p.m on June 25 when three male suspects in their twenties stole their cellphones.

After the victims gave chase, the suspects dropped both phones and fled the scene, which allowed the victims to retrieve their property.

Laptop robbery results in punching

At 11:31 p.m. on June 14, a suspect approximately 20 years old stole a bag containing a laptop belonging to a 64-year-old man near the corner of Fillmore and Sutter streets.

When the victim confronted the suspect, the younger man punched him and fled eastbound on Sutter Street.
