South of the border: sample Mexican eats at Tacoma's new Casa MorenoPhoto: David C./Yelp

If Mexican fare is what you're after, look no further than this new business. Located at 3802 S. Cedar St., the new addition is called Casa Moreno.

Housed in the former Agaves Grill space, family-owned Casa Moreno dishes up Mexican-American classics like carnitas tacos, arroz con pollo and steak fajitas. They can be accompanied with chips, salsa and guacamole, or a margarita or Mexican beer. Lunch specials (Monday-Friday, 11am-3pm) include chilaquiles, quesadillas or tamales for $8-9.

The fresh addition has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Gina E., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 9, wrote, "Just enjoyed my first visit to Casa Moreno restaurant in Tacoma. The pico de gallo was a delicious treat with our chips, and my carne asada was cooked to perfection."

Yelper L'andJ M. added, “So unexpected. This relatively new restaurant is a nice little Tacoma secret. The location doesn't do it complete justice because of all that surrounds it (car wash, Sherwin-Williams)."

And Roy I. wrote, "Best authentic Mexican food in Tacoma! Friendly staff, clean restaurant and great place [to] eat! Hard to find, but it's right behind O'Reilly Auto Parts."

Head on over to check it out: Casa Moreno Restaurant is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Sunday.
