Here's a look at notable crimes reported in the Tenderloin district in the two weeks since our last roundup. Unless otherwise noted, all details are drawn from SFPD's daily reports.

Man cut after intervening in robbery

Around 2:10 a.m. this morning, a group of men said to be in their twenties approached a 37-year-old man on the 400 block of Hyde Street (near Ellis), punched him, and stole his phone and wallet.

When a friend of the victim attempted to intervene, one suspect cut him on his hand with a knife before all fled southbound on Hyde Street. No arrests were made in the case.

Woman confronts cellphone snatcher

A 28-year-old woman dropped her cellphone near the intersection of Eddy and Taylor streets around 4:20 p.m. on July 12, and a 48-year-old man picked up the device and punched the victim when she confronted him. Officers later arrested the man and returned the victim’s cellphone. 

Photographer attacked by four robbers

A 60-year-old man was taking photos near the intersection of Market and First streets around 11:10 p.m. on July 10 when a group of four men, said to be in their twenties approached.

One of the suspects hit the vicim in the face while the other three stole his camera and equipment before fleeing on foot. No arrests have been made. 

Man chases down robber after being punched

A man in his early twenties snatched a cellphone from a 35-year-old man who was walking near the intersection of Turk and Mason streets around 2:15 p.m. on July 9.

The victim chased the robber, who turned and punched him, threw down the phone, and fled on foot. 

Pickpocket attacks man from behind

Around 1:00 p.m. on July 8, a man said to be 45 years old approached a 49-year-old man near the intersection of Sixth and Jessie streets from behind, attacked him, and stole money from his pockets. No arrest has been made.

Man attacked by racist skateboarder

A male said to be in his late teens struck a 22-year-old man with a skateboard and made racist statements to him around 3:30 p.m. on July 8 on the 700 block of Market Street (at Third). The suspect fled the scene and has not been identified. 

Robber snatches man’s phone, tablet

A 54-year-old man sitting outside on the 600 block of Mission Street (at Second) around 9:14 a.m. on July 8 was approached by a man said to be in his twenties who grabbed his cellphone from his hand, stole his tablet, and ran away. The victim was not injured.

Woman robbed after verbal dispute

Around 1:40 a.m. on July 8, a 35-year-old woman was in a verbal argument with two women said to be in their thirties on the 700 block of Larkin Street (at Eddy).

The two suspects punched the victim, knocked her to the ground, and stole her phone, house keys, and wallet. The two suspects fled in a silver sedan northbound on Larkin and have not been identified. 

No arrests in three-on-one attack

Three men said to be in their early twenties got into a fight with a 42-year-old man near the intersection of Cyril Magnin and Eddy streets around 6:10 p.m. on July 6. The suspects attacked the victim and fled on foot, but did not steal any property. No arrests have been made. 

Bike thief attacks man with metal pipe

Around 11:00 p.m. on July 4, a 33-year-old man walked out of a pizza shop on the corner of O’Farrell and Larkin streets and saw two men trying to break the lock on his bicycle.

One of the suspects, said to be 45 years old, brandished an knife while the second struck the victim with a pipe. The two suspects fled with the man’s bike and have not been identified.

Man intimidated after laptop robbery

A 26-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Market and 8th streets with a MacBook under his arm around 3:50 p.m. on July 3 when a man grabbed his laptop from behind and told him to "keep walking." The suspect fled with the computer northbound on Eighth Street.

Woman injured in top-floor clothing fire

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm on the upper floor of a building on the 300 block of Ellis Street (near Taylor) around 11:46 p.m. on July 2. Once on the scene firefighters discovered clothes on fire and extinguished them, but a 58-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with related injuries.

Five-on-one robbery on Market 

A 23-year-old man was walking on the 1000 block of Market Street (near Taylor) around 10:40 p.m. on July 1 when five men said to be in their twenties assaulted him and stole his cellphone and wallet. No arrests have been made. 

Armed robber steals money in early morning attack

Around 2:58 a.m. on June 30, a suspect said to be in his twenties entered a store on the 700 block of Market Street (near Third) pointed a gun at the 51-year-old male attendant, and stole money from the cash register. The suspect fled the scene and has not been identified. 

Man punched by unknown suspect

On June 29 in UN Plaza, an unknown suspect struck a 39-year-old man around 1:30 p.m. The victim was taken to a hospital, and the suspect has not been identified.

Two men stabbed in UN Plaza knife attack

Minutes earlier at the same location, a 34-year-old man attacked two men, aged 19 and 34, with a knife around 1:25 p.m. Both men suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital, and the suspect was arrested.
