The Ice Box brings arcade games and pinball to FremontPhoto: Alex S./Yelp

A new arcade has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The new addition to Fremont, called The Ice Box, is located at 615 N.W. Bright St.

The Ice Box is a public-facing offshoot of Grand Champion Games, which has been selling, servicing and leasing arcade and pinball machines to Seattle businesses since 2016. Its moniker comes from its home in the former Allied Ice space, which moved in 2012 after 45 years in

At this all-ages space, game lovers can challenge each other to everything from GoldenEye to Big Lebowski pinball; for fans of analog gaming, there's also a pool table.

The new arcade has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.

James C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 23, wrote, "This new arcade within walking distance of downtown Fremont or Ballard is an awesome place to go play some arcade games and kick back and have some fun. I had a great time losing to my girlfriend."

Yelper Heidi A. added, “Hidden gem! Fun arcade games, lots of pinball, but also some excellent, if not slightly obscure fighters: Mortal Kombat 4, Street Fighter vs. X-Men, Terminator."

And Paul M. wrote, "I can't believe I'm the first to review this little Ballard/Fremont gem. An amazing arcade tucked away in an old ice warehouse, the Ice Box features tons of vintage video games and pinball."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. The Ice Box is open from 3 p.m.–10 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, 1 p.m.–10 p.m. on Wednesday-Friday, and noon–10 p.m. on weekends.
