Idle Hour brings drinks and American fare to QuincyPhoto: Derek B./Yelp

If you've got cocktails and creative American food on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 1464 Hancock St. at the Quincy Center, the new addition is called Idle Hour.

The space features moody lighting, exposed brick, industrial touches and tropical artwork. Patrons sit at the long bar, at communal tables or at the handful of smaller tables drinking signature cocktails, wine and craft beer.

The food menu from restaurateur Mathew Freid is continuously evolving. Recent items have included a summer salad of peaches, tomato, cucumber and a halloumi vinaigrette, steak tacos with Oaxacan mole and a striped bass ceviche.

Idle Hour has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.

Lauren A., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Aug. 24, wrote, "Wow, what an amazing experience! This place is such a welcome addition to the Quincy food scene. Idle Hour has a cool modern retro vibe and it feels like you are sitting in a bar in any major metropolitan city."

And Chris B. wrote, "The food was fantastic. Atmosphere is like something the area has never seen before. Local craft beers, too."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Idle hour is open from 4 p.m.-1 a.m. daily.
