It's the last summer holiday of the year, and from morning sports to afternoon plays to evening dancing, we want you to get the best out of it. Here's our top picks for fun in and around the city this long weekend.
Fillmore Salsa Festival
Whether you're a seasoned salsa or merengue pro or have never tried out a dance floor before, this is the perfect place to start. Make your way over to Fillmore & O’Farrell streets on either Friday or Saturday night for this free event which will include dance lessons, live music, DJs, a dance competition and much more. If nothing else, you'll get to skip paying for a dance lesson and enjoy some exercise under the stars at the same time.

Free Shakespeare in the Park
Need a bit more culture in your life? The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is swinging through town to present their production of the Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The play is free; all you've got to do is show up, enjoy some Shakespeare with the beautiful Bay as the backdrop and brag about it later to friends.

The Commons' 1st Sundays Block Party
Once a month, City Hall throws a free weekend block party, and you're invited. Centered on the corner of Fulton Street and Larkin, The Commons Block Party includes street food curated by Off the Grid, special musical performances and local crafts for sale.
This month's event also includes free street soccer, a book sale, a Lego building center and a game of giant Scrabble. And when you've had your fill of the fun outside, head on inside to the Asian Art Museum (right around the block from Civic Center Commons) for free admission, which occurs the first Sunday of every month.
