Craving Tex-Mex cuisine? The newest Guapo's restaurant has you covered. The regional chain, which now has nine locations, has opened its doors at 3050 K Street NW on the waterfront in Georgetown.
The restaurant has a large menu, starting with appetizers like sautéed shrimp with garlic, herbs and white wine. The platters show off the range of the regional cuisine, from chile relleno and Oaxacan tacos to American-style tacos (crispy shells filled with ground beef or shredded chicken) and a taco salad. There are also burritos and enchiladas, plus fajitas and enchiladas.
The drinks menu is long on cocktails, especially tequila- and mezcal-based options, plus wines from across Europe and Latin America.
Guapo's of Georgetown has nine reviews on Yelp, which gives it a four-star rating thus far.
Brent B., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on Aug. 28, wrote, "Our food came out relatively quickly, and all tasted absolutely fantastic. The lovely venue, great staff and excellent food make this a go-to spot for anyone looking for Mexican food in the Georgetown area."
Rachel B. added, "The patio is fantastic. It's big, it's got a great view of the plaza and river, and there's lots of shade for hot summer days. The sangria was especially good — maybe it's a different recipe than the other Guapo's restaurants. Loved the chips too, served hot and fresh, with a good amount of salt."
Head on over to check it out: Guapo's of Georgetown is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday.
