Interested in exploring the newest restaurant additions to Bellingham? From a sushi and ramen spot to a beer garden, read on for the newest hot spots to arrive near you.

Bellingham Beer Garden

First up, Bellingham Beer Garden has recently opened at 500 Carolina St. in Sunnyland. Owned by Twin Sisters Brewery, it serves house beers along with guest brews at its 30 taps. Food is also on offer, including small and large gastropub-style plates, from Cajun shrimp bruschetta to smoked salmon sliders. There's a cavernous interior with a garage-style door, and a large outdoor area with picnic tables and grassy spots for the kids.

Hokkai Ramen & Sushi

Next, Hokkai Ramen & Sushi has debuted in the former Teriyaki House space at 4277 Meridian St., Suite 102. Expect nine different ramen styles that include shio (clear salt broth), shoyu (soy sauce), tonkatsu (pork) and miso; most are served with barbecue pork, but there is also a fully vegetarian offering. Other menu items include rice bowls topped with curry beef or deep-fried breaded chicken along with nigiri, sashimi and sushi rolls. Wash it down with sake or a Japanese beer.

Now open downtown at 1305 Cornwall Ave. is The Wild Oat Bakery & Cafe, a vegan eatery that specializes in locally sourced and organic fare. The lunch and dinner dishes feature faux meats (including the Impossible Burger), vegan cheeses and pasta. A full weekend breakfast includes a tofu scramble and a black bean and quinoa breakfast burrito. Stop by anytime for coffee, tea, kombucha and a selection of baked goods.
