Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in Hayes Valley and the Western Addition since our last roundup in early September. All reports were provided by SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Cellphone robbery on Muni bus

On October 9, at 3:45 p.m. a 16-year-old boy was sitting on a Muni bus at Geary Boulevard and Fillmore Street when an 18-year-old man got into a struggle with him. The older man then grabbed the boy's cellphone and fled.

Unknown suspect burns flags

On September 30 around 3:30 p.m., an unknown suspect burned flags on the 1600 block of Laguna Street, causing damage to the pavement. No arrest has been made.

Hot prowl burglary while victim was at home

A 26-year-old man was at home on September 17 when an unknown suspect entered his house on the 300 block of Hayes Street.

Sometime between 11 p.m. on the 17th and 8 a.m. the following day, the suspect was able to steal computers, credit cards, a wallet, backpack and headphones without being noticed.

Bicyclist collides with vehicle door, assaults driver

On September 11 at 11:39 a.m., a man, 34, collided his bicycle into the passenger door of a vehicle at Golden Gate and Van Ness avenues. The man then reached into the vehicle's window and assaulted the driver, a 23-year-old woman. A struggle over the victim's purse developed.

According to police, the victim was ultimately dragged out of the car by the suspect, but "good samaritans" were able to detain the suspect until police arrived to arrest him. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Woman wakes up, finds her possessions on the sidewalk

On September 12, a 33-year-old woman woke up in her apartment on the 700 block of Fell Street to an unpleasant surprise: her window was open, with her possessions spread over the sidewalk. The victim was able to get all of her property back.

The hot prowl burglary occurred sometime between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. The Crime Scene Investigations department was notified.

Northern Station monthly community meeting

Residents interested in learning more about crime and safety in the district are invited to attend Northern Station's community meetings, held at the station (1125 Fillmore St.) at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will be today, October 11.
