Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top bookstores in Cincinnati, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture next time you're looking for a good read. 

1. Blue Manatee

Topping the list is Oakley's Blue Manatee, situated at 3094 Madison Road. With 4.5 stars out of 58 reviews on Yelp, it is the highest rated bookstore in Cincinnati.

In addition to Blue Manatee's events, book signings and story times, this children's bookstore also serves coffee and tea. Local and self-published authors are encouraged to submit their books for consideration.

"If you enjoy books, whether for young kids or young adults, this store is wonderful! I have never left without buying a book for someone in my life," said Yelper Emily S. 

2. Iris BookCafé

Over-The-Rhine's Iris BookCafé, located at 1331 Main St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the bookstore and coffee shop four stars out of 127 reviews.

This cafe features locally sourced food, coffee and tea, books and exhibits including local artists. Enjoy a book outside on Iris BookCafé's outdoor patio with individual tables. 

Sal P. wrote on Yelp, "Iris BookCafe is one of those local gems I love to find in any city."

3. Joseph-Beth Booksellers

Joseph-Beth Booksellers is another go-to, with four stars out of 93 Yelp reviews. Head over to 2692 Madison Road to see for yourself.

This small chain has five other locations in Ohio and Kentucky. The bookstore features events for both adults and children with live readings and presentations. Join the Rewards Program, which allows you to save money on new releases and best-sellers.

4. Ohio Book Store

Then there's Ohio Book Store, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 34 reviews on Yelp. You can find the bookstore and bookbinding spot downtown at 726 Main St.

This shop has five floors of different books and magazines for sale, including a Bookbinding and Repair Department that can restore and provide custom binding for old books. 

"This is what a bookstore is supposed to look and feel like. There's endless shelves of mostly well-organized books stacked to the ceiling," noted Yelper Richard L.
