If you've got sushi on the brain, you're in luck: we've found the freshest Washington eateries to quell your cravings. Here are the newest places to check out the next time you're in the mood for some sushi.

Nama Sushi Bar

First up, Nama Sushi Bar has recently opened its doors in the space next to Alta Strada.

You'll find a seven-seat, purple-lit bar, and equally colorful food. Maki rolls run from straightforward tuna and jalapeño to scallop, Sriracha aioli, tobiko and tempura flakes. There's nigiri and sashimi, including vegetarian versions like spicy beet tartare, crispy quinoa, white soy and mint. Small plates like kobe sliders round out the food menu.

There's a selection of sake and Japanese beer, plus cocktails based on Japanese whisky.

Nama Sushi Bar currently holds 4.5 stars out of four reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.

Alison Z. noted, "Had an awesome meal here. We did the chef's selection, and the fish was very fresh and well prepared."

Yelper Motto Z. wrote, "Had an excellent meal here last week. Kobe slider, spicy scallop roll and sushi chef selection is amazing. However, you will definitely get what you pay for and vice versa. This place is a bit pricey."

Nama Sushi Bar is open from 5–10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 5–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Sushi Nakazawa

Sushi Nakazawa is a sushi bar and Japanese spot in the Trump International Hotel.

Chef Daisuke Nakazawa is "by many measures, the best sushi chef in the United States and perhaps the best outside Japan," according to the Washington Post. His namesake new D.C. restaurant is his second. (The first is in New York.)

Here you'll find omakase courses consisting of the best available ingredients, including fish and seafood like Spanish mackerel, fatty tuna and Japanese sea urchin.

Sushi Nakazawa is off to a strong start with a current Yelp rating of five stars out of 31 reviews.

Yelper Emily A., who reviewed the restaurant on Oct. 17, wrote, "Best sushi in the area. Beautiful presentation, great service, friendly chef and, most importantly, every bite was amazing."

Morgan E. noted, "No detail overlooked. This is an exceptional omakase experience from the posh and beautiful sushi bar to the service to how engaging and polite the sushi chefs are. If you enjoy sushi, this is the best sushi in D.C., hands down."

Sushi Nakazawa is open from noon–1 p.m. and 5–10 p.m. on Monday-Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)

Toryumon Japanese House

Finally, Toryumon Japanese House is a sushi bar and Asian fusion spot in the Golden Triangle.

Appetizers include sesame ginger salad and avocado salad, as well as heavier options like pork belly steamed buns with katsu sauce. For the main course, Toryumon offers plenty of sashimi options, specialty sushi rolls and hibachi entrees.

There are ramen soups, too. Choose from the house list, or design your own by selecting the broth (more or less fat), noodles (thin and straight or thick and wavy) and toppings, like scallion, bulgogi or bacon.

Toryumon Japanese House currently holds 4.5 stars out of 87 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Kimberly V. wrote, "The best ramen I've had in this area or New York. Perfect flavor. This is traditional broth — homemade with hours of slow-cook simmering to get the proper fat ratio absolutely perfect, from light to extra rich, as you prefer."

Yelper Tracy N. wrote, "Great little underground place for lunch. They have an excellent lunch bento box special menu that allows you to try a lot of different items. ... Service was friendly and efficient and the environment is funky and clean."

Toryumon Japanese House is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday, noon–11 p.m. on Saturday, and noon–10 p.m. on Sunday.
