In a mailing sent to area residents and businesses this week, the Cole Ashbury Group announced a meeting next Thursday, November 15th from 6-8 p.m. to discuss the possibility of opening a retail cannabis store at 1685 Haight St.

The group is one of three retail cannabis candidates that vied to apply to open up shop in the Upper Haight's newly minted "green zone." Of the three, it's the only one currently selected by the city's Office of Cannabis to move forward with the permitting and application process.

The group, owned by partners Shawn Richard, Conor Johnston, and John Delaplane, is beginning to tick off the task list of requirements put in place by the city for new cannabis operations.

According to the mailing, "our goal is to create an inviting, safe store that will be part of the fabric of the ... community."

This meeting is the first chance for neighbors to hear directly from the group about their goals and designs for the store, and what shape their community involvement and support (a city requirement) would take.

The meeting will be held at Silver Sprocket, the current tenant of 1685 Haight St. Snacks will be provided.

If you can't make the meeting but have questions or concerns to voice directly to the group, they suggest contact via email at haightcannabis [at] gmail [dot] com.
