Cupcakes are having a moment, and with good reason. The single-serving treats take well to intricate decorations as well as to unusual, even outlandish, flavor combinations. Bacon and coffee, anyone?

Hoodline rounded up Dallas's most popular cupcake sellers, using Yelp data and our own methodology, to help you decide where to spend your cupcake dollars on National Cupcake Day, also known as Dec. 15.

Choose wisely.

1. Kookie Haven

Topping the list is Kookie Haven. Located at 337 W. Jefferson Blvd. in Oak Cliff, the bakery, which offers cupcakes, desserts and more, is the highest rated cupcake spot in Dallas, boasting five stars out of 127 reviews on Yelp.

You're in luck on National Cupcake Day, as every Saturday Kookie Haven serves stuffers, which are mashups of cookies and cupcakes. They also offer regular square-shaped cupcakes with several vegan varieties available daily. 

Anthony C. wrote, "This has got to be one of the best desserts ever! The staff is so friendly and the owner even came out to talk to us and tell us all about her treats. We tried the strawberry cupcake and the salted caramel sugar cookie stuffed with white wedding cake. Amazing!"

2. Society Bakery

Next up is Lower Greenville's Society Bakery, situated at 3610 Greenville Ave. With four stars out of 385 reviews on Yelp, the bakery, which offers desserts, cupcakes and more, has proven to be a local favorite.

Open since 2003, Society Bakery has earned national acclaim and now has its own show on Food Network called "Dallas Cakes." Get there early on Saturday, as their limited selection of signature design cupcakes will go fast.

Peter L. said, "We love Society Bakery! Delicious cakes and cupcakes. My favorites are the Italian Cream and Strawberry Champagne. Their cookies are a sweet treat too. I really enjoy going during different holidays and getting corresponding cookies."

3. Fluellen Cupcakes

Main Street District's Fluellen Cupcakes, located at 1408 Elm St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the bakery, which offers coffee, tea, cupcakes and more, four stars out of 229 reviews.

This downtown location (the other is in Frisco) opened its doors in 2013. Twelve varieties of cupcakes are made fresh daily here, with flavors like Lemon Delight with lemon zest cream cheese frosting and a lemon wedge garnish, and Chocolate Cream Cheese with chocolate cake, cream cheese frosting and chocolate sprinkles. Yelper Mayra V. wrote, "Went in for a chocolate and peanut butter cupcake. It was so good! It was bigger than a regular cupcake and a little pricier, but totally worth it! The staff was nice and the place was clean and organized."

4. Trailercakes

Trailercakes, a bakery that offers cupcakes, catering and more in Oak Cliff, is another go-to, with four stars out of 185 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1201 Eldorado to see for yourself.

Trailercakes often takes its kitchen on the road to events around Dallas by way of a restored Airstream trailer named Bubbles. The bakery offers 22 varieties of cupcakes with names like Oh My Ganache, Who You Callin' Coconut and Kermint.

Anna P. said, "As an artist, I just wanted to marvel at the beauty of my box of cupcakes. As a cupcake lover, however, well... I pulled out my cracked-screen phone and quickly snapped a photo. That way, I could continue to marvel at cupcake beauty as I devoured each little masterpiece."

5. SusieCakes

Finally, over in North Dallas, check out SusieCakes, which has earned four stars out of 143 reviews on Yelp. You can find the bakery, which offers desserts, cupcakes and more, at 6100 Luther Lane.

SusieCakes is a national chain that has three local locations.  Thirteen full size cupcake varieties are made fresh daily with a smaller offering of mini cupcakes as well. (See the full menu here.)

Ana H., who reviewed it on Aug. 18, said, "Definitely the best place to splurge during cheat day. I love the cupcakes here! I am never disappointed with any of the flavors they have."
