An Inspired Past. A Jubilant Future: Youth & Senior Audiences

If you're a teen or a senior, this world premiere of Parallel Lives was created with you in mind. Get inspired by Deeply Rooted Dance's performances about the experiences of poor, resilient working women. This show, set to music by Roberta Flack and choreographed by Gary Abbott, explores how love can triumph over community conflict and despair, notes the dance company.

CMDC - Annual Winter Spectacular

If you're a dance fan, come this Saturday to see the latest crop of students from Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center perform in its Annual Winter Spectacular. CMDC, founded by Homer Hans Bryant, formerly of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, is known for pioneering Hiplet, a new technique that combines ballet and hip hop, according to the company's website.

Joffrey Ballet's The Nutcracker set in 1893

Start a new family tradition and check out this adaptation of The Nutcracker from Tony-award-winning choreographer, Christopher Wheeldon.

Coming to the Auditorium Theatre this Thursday, this Joffrey Ballet production is set during the 1893 World's Fair and focuses on Marie, the young daughter of poor fair workers from the city's South Side. With the help of a magical nutcracker, Marie is guided through a World Fair dreamland filled with exotic animals, people and places.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze

If you're looking for family entertainment with the 'wow' factor, check out Cirque Dreams Holidaze coming this Thursday to the Chicago Theatre. 

From Director Neil Goldberg, this Broadway musical features a nationwide cast of circus performers, singers and dancers plus 300 different costumes, 20 acrobatic feats and diverse holiday songs celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's and more.
