A new traditional barbecue joint has opened up shop in the neighborhood. Called Blacksmoke BBQ & Grill, the fresh arrival is located at 2121 Northwest Highway, Suite 100.

The barbecue meat, which includes rib slabs, sausage, pulled pork, chicken or brisket, can be purchased by the pound, as a sandwich or as a meat plate that includes sides and a roll.

Choose sides from mashed potatoes to fried okra, mac and cheese, corn on the cob and much more. For customers not looking for red meat or poultry, there is fried catfish on the menu, which can be viewed by clicking here.

The fresh addition has made a mixed impression thus far, with a three-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp.

Greg D., who was the first to review the new spot on Jan. 15, wrote, "I ordered the two meat plate with brisket and ribs. Both were tender and smoked to perfection. The place was clean and displayed some of his awards on the wall just as you walk in. Do yourself a favor and check it out."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Blacksmoke BBQ & Grill is open from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on Tuesday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.–7 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
