1. Five O'Clock Steakhouse

Topping the list is steakhouse and event space Five O'Clock Steakhouse, which offers seafood and more. Located at 2416 W. State St., it's the highest rated business in the neighborhood, boasting four stars out of 337 reviews on Yelp.

2. Conway's Smokin' Bar & Grill

Next up is dive bar Conway's Smokin' Bar & Grill, which offers barbecue and more, situated at 2127 W. Wells St. With 4.5 stars out of 32 reviews on Yelp, it's proven to be a local favorite. 

Appetizers, smoked meat plates and sandwiches are features on this spot's menu. Hone in on specific options like mozzarella sticks or jalapeño poppers to start; meatloaf or wings out of the smoker; or a classic Chicago hot dog or loaded burger. (Here's the menu.)

3. Asian Papayoyo

Asian fusion and Malaysian spot Asian Papayoyo is another top choice. Yelpers give the business, located at 2040 W. Wisconsin Ave., 4.5 stars out of 27 reviews. Curry chicken, ramen and lamb rice are featured at this eatery that offers authentic Malaysian fare.

4. Tangled Noodles

Tangled Noodles, a Chinese spot that offers noodles and more, is another neighborhood go-to, with four stars out of 55 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1404 W. Wells St. to see for yourself. 

Both noodle and rice dishes are available at this eatery. Popular noodle dishes include five spice beef noodles with cilantro, pickled slaw and a fried egg in beef broth; Taiwan beef noodles with braised brisket, green onion and pickled mustard greens; and the Nuts About Peanut Butter Bowl with peanut soy sauce, pork, egg strips and cucumber. 5. The Fitz

And then there's The Fitz, a local favorite with four stars out of 25 reviews. Stop by 2308 W. Wisconsin Ave. (inside the Ambassador Hotel) to hit up the diner and New American and breakfast and brunch spot next time you're in the neighborhood. 

The Fitz offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, as well as weekend brunch. Look for vanilla waffles or the Fitz Breakfast complete with two eggs made your way, ham and hash browns in the morning; a Reuben or BLT sandwich for lunch; and Scottish salmon with sweet potato or pork tenderloin with Brussels sprouts for dinner.
