This morning, the Internet Archive, the nonprofit digital library housed in a former Christian Science church on Funston Avenue in the Richmond District, was evacuated due to a bomb threat.

Details are still emerging, but SFPD Sgt. Michael Andraychak confirmed the incident, which he said was reported around 10:30 a.m. this morning.

"Officers responded, conducted an investigation, and determined the threat was without merit," Andraychak told Hoodline. Staff were allowed to re-enter the building around noon.

It's still unclear what the nature of the threat was, or what it was it related to, but the Archive has not shied away from politics. It recently debuted the Trump Archive, an effort to document a comprehensive Donald Trump database for public fact-checking.

Representatives from the Internet Archive were unable to respond to queries immediately. We'll update this story as we learn more.
