New bar Hazel now open in Platt ParkPhoto: Darrelle G./Yelp

Looking for a new bar to check out? Look no further than this new arrival. Located at 1581 S. Pearl St. in Platt Park, the newcomer is called Hazel.

The artsy neighborhood bar serves a variety of cocktails, beers and wine, alongside tasty snacks like its gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. The walls of the bar also act as a gallery for local artists, as well as for customers willing to try their hand at their own piece of artwork. The venue even offers select event nights for watercolor creations and more.

With a five-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, Hazel seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Jerry O., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on Jan. 22, wrote, "It is a great place to chill with friends and meet new ones. The bar is hip and modern, with amazing art, tables complete with coloring accessories, a chill ambiance, a cool music vibe and friendly people."

Yelper Darrelle G. added, “We enjoyed great mixed drinks, what a fun atmosphere. This place is new but worth going to. ... The owners are very lovely, engaging people who are fun to hang out with! There is a garage door that opens up when the weather is nice."

Hazel is open from 3 p.m.–2 a.m. on weekdays and from noon–2 a.m. on weekends.
