New Italian spot Luce debuts in PeabodyPhoto: Luce/Yelp

A new cocktail bar and Italian spot, offering seafood and more, has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to Peabody, called Luce, is located at 1 Shepard St.

Formerly known as Shepard, this spot has been reimagined into an autentic Italian bistro. On the menu, expect to find eats like brick-oven pizza topped with fig and prosciutto, lemon linguine, grilled oysters and New York strip steak. Pair those plates with a specialty cocktail. For a post-dinner dessert, there's gelato and sorbet.

With a 3.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, the new arrival is getting solid feedback from clientele.

Kelly D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Jan. 28, wrote, "We shared the calamari and grilled shrimp as appetizers. There was fresh citrus on perfectly breaded calamari and the fat tender shrimp had a light aioli. All the pastas were perfectly cooked and flavorful."

Yelper Michelle K. added, “The Luce artichokes were really delicious and crispy. The ricotta gnocchi was wonderful, pillowy and a pleasure to eat. As for the grilled mackerel, the skin was crisp and the fish was tender."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Luce is open from 5:30 p.m.–10 p.m. on Tuesday-Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Sunday.)
