Want the dirt on Denver's buzziest local spots?

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to analyze which local businesses have been most discussed this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Denver businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Read on to see which spots are getting plenty of attention, right now.

Uchi

Open since October, this popular sushi bar and Japanese spot, which offers seafood and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Seafood" on Yelp.

Citywide, seafood spots saw review counts increase by a median of 2 percent over the past month, but Uchi saw a 24.1 percent increase, maintaining a healthy 4.5-star rating throughout.

It's not the only trending outlier in the seafood category: Mario's Ocean Club has seen a 15.9 percent increase in reviews.

Located at 2500 Lawrence St. in Five Points, Uchi offers a contemporary Japanese dining experience, serving sustainable dishes like its machi cure, a cold dish of smoked yellowtail, yuca crisp and Marcona almonds. A selection of sushi and desserts are also available, including its jasmine ice cream — a blend of cilantro granita, pineapple and honey crumble. (Take a look at the full menu.)

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Central Business District's Giordano's, the Italian spot, which offers pizza and salads, is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.

While businesses categorized as "Italian" on Yelp increased their review count by a median of 3.5 percent over the past month, Giordano's bagged a 32.9 percent increase in reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a mixed three-star rating.

Open at 1600 California St. since November, Giordano's offers stuffed deep dish pizzas, salads, sandwiches, plus classic Italian selections like chicken Parmesan and fettuccine Alfredo. (View the full menu here.)

Moreover, on a month-to-month basis review counts increased by more than 370 percent.
