Red Door Eats makes Downtown Berkeley debut, with sandwiches and morePhoto: Red Door Eats/Yelp

A new sandwich shop with both classic American and internationally-influenced subs has opened for business in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to Downtown Berkeley, called Red Door Eats, is located at 2282 Fulton St.

This new locally-owned spot features an assortment of affordable artisan sandwiches and salads, like the Steph's Chicken with roasted chicken, veggies, golden raisins and curry dressing; a Roast Beef Romesco with roast peppers, olives, and Swiss; and "hot stuff" variations like a Cuban with mango slaw or the Sunburn with grilled chicken and barbecue sauce.

There are also vegan options, as well, such as the Berkeley, with avocado, hummus, and tomato; and the Tofu-It, with veggies and curry dressing. Gluten-free bread is available, too. (You can check out the full menu and order online here.)

With a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, Red Door Eats is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Zachary S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on February 1, wrote, "The sandwiches here are amazing! They have hot and cold items that can be prepared sandwich or bowl style! I had the Urban Cowboy (hot stuff sandwich), which was piled high with BBQ pulled pork."

Yelper Avdeep D. added, "The place is amazing. It seems like an ordinary sandwich, but it's one of the best I've ever had. Their flavors, sauces, and ingredients go together really well!"

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Red Door Eats is open from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday-Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
