A man was killed and five others were injured in a shooting at Fillmore and Ellis streets, near the Fillmore Heritage Center.

The shooting occurred on Saturday night around 8:40 p.m. The victim has been identified by the Medical Examiner's office as San Leandro resident Mister Dee Carnell Simmons III, 25. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another victim, a 27-year-old man, has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The four remaining victims — three men, ages 19, 25, and 50, and one woman, age 50 — sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Three of the victims were taken to the hospital by paramedics at the scene, while the other two were transported there in private cars.

No description of a possible suspect has been released. Police said that the case remains an active and ongoing investigation.

According to the Examiner, three of the victims had been discharged from Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFGH) as of Sunday morning. The 27-year-old man remains in critical condition, and another man is still hospitalized in serious condition, according to a ZSFGH spokesperson.

District 5 Supervisor Vallie Brown offered a statement on the shooting:

In response to the shooting, Brown and other civic leaders will host a community meeting tomorrow, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fillmore Heritage Center (1330 Fillmore St.)

Update 12:25 p.m.: Police said Monday that an investigation determined that Simmons as well as Sean Harrison, who was transported to the hospital in a private car, and Jamare Coats of San Francisco, who drove Harrison to the hospital, were involved in the shooting.

Harrison and Coats were booked on homicide and firearm charges at San Francisco County Jail. Due to pending identification matters, booking photos were not released at this time.
