Next, the Middle East Children's Alliance and The American Friends Service Committee presents Ahmed Abu Artema, a Palestinian journalist and refugee and one of the founding organizers of the "Gaza Great March of Return." 

Artema will speak about his experiences, his "vision for a just and lasting peace" in the region and the future of nonviolent actions in Palestine. He will be joined by Chicago-based activist and scholar Jehad Abusalim.

Women's Adventure Film Tour at Sports Basement Berkeley

Celebrate International Women's Day this Friday with eight short films showcasing "the fantastic women around us who are doing extraordinary things," write the organizers. 

The Women's Adventure Film Tour will be screened at three Bay Area Sports Basement locations, including Berkeley, Sunnyvale and the Presidio San Francisco. The films highlight "real stories about women from a variety of cultures and sports around the world."

Bobby Black - "Moonlight in Hawaii"

Finally, notable steel guitarist Bobby Black headlines Moonlight in Hawaii, an evening of Hawaiian steel guitar, hapa-haole classics and hula dances. Black's expansive career includes collaborations with Hank Williams, George Jones, Jim Reeves and New Riders of the Purple Sage, among others. 

Backed by an assortment of special guest musicians, vocalists and hula dancers, Black will be playing an array of classics and some of his most favorite Hawaiian songs. Kicking off the evening is Bay Area-based Hawaiian band, Haopinaka.
