The number of crime reports in Cupertino saw an overall decline last month, for the third month in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.

Incidents fell by 2.2 percent, from 320 in January to 313 in February.

Most types of crimes decreased this month, led by burglary and theft. Burglary fell from 17 reported incidents in January to 11 in February. Theft incidents went from 69 to 63 for the month, or an 8.7 percent decrease.

There were five assault reports last month. Assault incidents dropped from seven offenses the previous month.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, shooting reports went from one to five. Vandalism incidents rose from 12 to 14.

Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, the largest decline last month occurred in Inspiration Heights, Garden Gate and Creston-Pharlap.

Fridays, Wednesdays and Thursdays continued to see the most reported crimes last month. The largest decrease from the previous month occurred on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while incidents on Sundays and Mondays went up. Comparing times of day, late morning, evening and late afternoon saw the most crime last month on average each day.
