A new cocktail bar, offering pizza and more, has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to Zilker, called The Connection Pizza & Bar, is located at 1100 S. Lamar Blvd., Suite 2140.

Order from one of the 15 signature pizzas, which include the Spicy Love with spicy chili, mozzarella, pepperoni, jalapeño and honey; the Roman Summer with fontina, smoked mozzarella, gorgonzola, pepperoni, potatoes, onions, rosemary and salt; and the Smoked BBQ with pork, mozzarella, smoked barbecue sauce, arugula, cherry tomatoes, balsamic, lemon zest and onions.

The Connection Pizza & Bar makes its own dough and sauce from scratch. There are also pasta dishes, salads and appetizers on the menu. Complement your meal with a fine domestic or international wine, signature cocktail or a craft beer.

With a three-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp so far, The Connection Pizza & Bar has received mixed feedback, but it's still early days.

R B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb. 28, wrote, "What a cool place! The atmosphere is relaxed enough for families and intimate enough for date night. The food has a neat twist on favorites and its own style on others. They make their own pasta and it had the perfect al dente, mouthwatering texture."

Yelper Nick M. noted, “Very good pasta, pizza is high-quality brick oven-style with sourdough crust. The beer selection was adequate, mostly local, and the wine selection and cocktails were outstanding. There's a kid's menu too, which is very good and nice to have, although the place is a little upscale for kids."
