Sea Change - Plastic Straws to Local Laws

Berkeley's Inner Sounds presents Wellness Wednesdays, a monthly sound bath gathering "attuned to the unique astrological and seasonal influences specific to the time," write the event organizers. This week's event centers around the full moon Spring Equinox coupled with meditation focusing on equanimity and grounding. 

"The Spring Equinox is a point of union and balance, poised between opposite forces: light and dark, receptive and active, unconscious and conscious, inner and outer," according to Inner Sound. "This is a time of joining opposite forces to create a blending of energy that is alive, potent and expansive."

Mama Africa: Sistahs of the Drum and Adwoa Kudoto and the DrumGhana and Dance Ensemble

Sistahs of the Drum, which describes themselves as "students and teachers, listeners and communicators, consumers and creators, protectors and nurturers and friends and lovers," will perform at the Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center on Saturday. The group brings "the essence of our traditional African roots in harmony with our African-American cultural rearing" with their West African-inspired drum stylings, according to the organizers.

Norooz Celebration 2019

The UC Berkeley Iranian Student Association in America (ISAA) and Stanford University's Persian Student Association (PSA) join to celebrate Norooz (Persian New Near) in the Pauley Ballroom on the Berkeley campus. 

The event features live music from Morteza, a dance performance by Ballet Afsaneh, and a comedy show followed by a full buffet dinner catered by the Middle East Market. The evening concludes with dancing and music provided by DJ Ahmad.
