The number of crime reports in Mountain View saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.
Incidents fell by about 11 percent, from 435 in January to 383 in February.
The offenses most on the decline last month were theft and burglary. Theft fell from 151 reported incidents in January to 108 in February. Burglary incidents went from 91 to 78 for the month, or about a 14 percent decrease.
There were 16 assault reports last month. Assault incidents dropped from 18 offenses the previous month.
Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, vandalism reports went from 16 to 22. Robbery incidents rose from four to seven, and arson incidents went up from zero to one.
Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, Moffett/Whisman Road, Moffett Boulevard and Slater saw the largest decline from January to February.
Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays saw the most crime incidents last month. The largest decrease from the previous month occurred on Thursdays, Wednesdays and Mondays, while incidents on Sundays, Saturdays and Fridays went up. Comparing times of day, early morning, evening and early afternoon saw the most crime last month on average each day.
