New Downtown Tex-Mex spot Chispas opens its doors

A new Tex-mex spot, offering tacos and more, has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Chispas, the newcomer is located at 214 W. Fourth St. downtown.

There are 14 different taco options, small bites, soup, salad and oysters on the menu. The drink menu has a vast selection of margaritas, cocktails, wine and Mexican and domestic beers.

Chispas has gotten good reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of 22 reviews on Yelp.

Natalie R., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 3, wrote, "Great atmosphere, prices and eats. I had both the duck confit and the SATX tacos. Also enjoyed the guacamole and queso. All were fantastic. Although I didn't have a drink, their tequila selections are outstanding."

And Jeff K. wrote, "Look no further than Chispas for great tacos in Austin! Great margaritas and tacos made with fresh ingredients! Tortillas are made in-house with flour and corn."

Hungry? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Chispas is open from 11 a.m.–midnight on Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–2 a.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.–2 a.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday.
