New Spanish spot Costera debuts in Uptown

A new Spanish spot, offering tapas and more, has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to Uptown, called Costera, is located at 4938 Prytania St.

The new restaurant, which took over the space of the La Thai restaurant, serves coastal Spanish cuisine. Look for blistered shishito peppers, seared yellowfin tuna, papas bravas, octopus and seafood paella. (Check out the full menu here.)

The newcomer has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp.

Jennifer L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb. 19, wrote, "What an upgrade to this space! The menu is shareable. We had both the meat and the seafood paella and both pans were scraped clean."

Yelper Bekah M. added, “The space is the same layout as La Thai, but they have created a more rustic and warm environment with the decor. They have an excellent wine list from the Iberian Peninsula and also an extensive French section. The food was divine. I'm gluten free and had tons of options.”

Head on over to check it out: Costera is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday-Sunday. (It's closed on Tuesday.)
