New Szechuan spot China Family Restaurant debuts in HighlandPhoto: Xavier O./Yelp

A new Szechuan spot has opened for business in the neighborhood. Called China Family Restaurant, the new addition is located at 6801 Airport Blvd. in Highland.

It offers a mix of familiar American-style Chinese food and more authentic Szechuan dishes. There's lo mein, fried rice and kung pao beef, for example, but also beef in chili oil, cabbage and vinegar, and pork intestines cooked on a griddle. You can dine in or order online for pickup.

China Family Restaurant at Highland has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 12 reviews on Yelp.

James F., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 6, wrote, "I believe it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Austin. The food is authentic and super tasty."

Yelper Carlos G. added, “We enjoyed our dinner. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Very good service. Helpful on menu from staff.”

Head on over to check it out: China Family Restaurant at Highland is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.
