The number of crime incidents in Pearland saw an overall increase last week, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 135 for the week of March 4, up from 127 the week before.

The overall increase in crime reports was led by assault and vandalism. Assault rose to 12 incidents last week, from eight the week before. Vandalism went from three to five.

While somewhat smaller categories, there was also a sizable percentage increase in robbery, from zero incidents per week to one, and in burglary, from 22 to 23 incidents.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of theft went from 35 to 19.

There were 75 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 16 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, 64 involved arrests, such as for drug possession, up from 48 reported arrests the week before.

Regarding day and time factors, Wednesdays, Mondays and Saturdays produced the most crime incidents last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Wednesdays, Mondays and Tuesdays, while incidents on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays went down. Comparing times of day, late afternoon, late morning and evening saw the most crime last week.
