A new bar and restaurant has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Republic Food and Drink, the newcomer is located downtown at 1425 Euclid Ave.
Occupying the former Otto Moser's Restaurant space, Republic Food and Drink serves New American fare — including sandwiches, burgers and salads — for lunch or dinner. There's also a variety of hearty main dishes, like short rib stroganoff with pappardelle, cremini mushrooms, caramelized onion, thyme and sour cream; and blackened salmon served with lentils, black beans, garbanzo beans, teardrop peppers, feta, cilantro and a honey-lime vinaigrette.
For a lighter bite, go with the southern fried chicken sandwich, served on a buttered potato bun with pickles and a side of waffle fries.
The new arrival has gotten off to a solid start thus far, with a 3.5-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.
Kate W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb.27, wrote, “I've been here twice now for lunch and the food is really tasty! I had the chopped salad (I opted not to add protein; bacon was enough for me), which was fresh, hearty and really delicious!
And Elizabeth K. wrote, "This is a great new spot, owned by the Driftwood Group, opened up right next to Playhouse Square. Service is excellent, interior is very trendy and intimate, and the food is delicious."
