Hop into History: Movie-Making

First, the Heinz History Center is celebrating Women's History Month with this child-oriented exhibition on filmmaker Lois Weber. Credited with being the country's first female director, the Pittsburgh-native directed 135 films that debuted technical innovation and included themes of social justice.

Youngsters will view highlights from her movies, try out movie-making techniques and star in their own silent movie.

Pups and PJs

Next, Humane Animal Rescue invites parents to drop their kids off for a puppy-filled evening this Friday. Children, geared in their favorite pair of PJs, will have the chance to meet-and-greet four-legged friends, watch family-friendly movies and chow down on pizza and popcorn.

When: Friday, March 15, 6 p.m.

Bag It Up! Pittsburgh Artists Seconds Sale

On Sunday, local artists are emptying out their storage spaces with your help — For $20, you'll get a bag to fill with your choice of surplus crafty creations including mugs, prints, t-shirts and more. And don't forget to bring your furry friend to this dog-friendly event to help sniff out some extra treasures.

Cocktails and coffees will also be provided by the hotel's bar and coffee shop.
