Woman in critical condition after man stabs her with ice pick for 'no reason'

A woman is in life-threatening condition after a man stabbed her with an ice pick in SoMa on Friday afternoon. Police say the stabbing occurred for "no reason." 

The incident took place at Fifth and Harrison streets around 3:50 p.m. The woman, 35, sustained critical injuries, though police did not disclose where on her body she was stabbed.

Police units on the scene arrested the suspect, a man in his 40s. The woman was transported to the hospital.
