Jewel of the South

A French Quarter newcomer, Jewel of the South is a cocktail bar and gastropub that's located at 1026 St. Louis St.

The restaurant serves dinner only every day from 5:30 p.m. to midnight, accompanied by a myriad of cocktail selections. The menu changes daily as it is based on seasonal items that vary in availability. 

So far, it has received five stars out five reviews on Yelp, indicating positive feedback.

Yelper Laura G., who was the first to review the new spot on March 16, said, "Completely awesome place. Lives up to its namesake! Drinks were perfect as expected and food is equally fantastic. We had the leeks and gumbo. The gumbo is hearty and presented with potato salad, as is commonly lost today. This was perfect and some of the best I've had in town."

Cookie Dough Bliss

Now open at 241 W. Harrison Ave., Suite A, in West End is Cookie Dough Bliss, a spot offering cookie dough, ice cream and other sweet treats.

Established in 2017, the restaurant features "ready-to-eat, premium cookie dough," according to its website. The menu features 15 cookie dough flavors, in addition to chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Cookies, sundaes and shakes are also available. The business is open seven days a week and caters events and parties as well.

It currently has four stars out of four reviews on Yelp, meaning it's getting positive attention from locals.

Bordeaux

Stroll past 4734 Magazine St. in West Riverside and you'll find Bordeaux, a French and Cajun/Creole spot. 

Bordeaux is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday and for brunch on Saturday and Sunday, according to the restaurant's website, and the weekend brunch features live jazz music. Menu specialties include lamb, suckling pig, goat, pheasant, quail and duck. Desserts are made in-house, including its house cotton candy.

With four stars out of 11 reviews on Yelp, it is settling into the neighborhood well.  

Yelper David D., who was the first to review the new establishment on Feb. 22, wrote, "Tonight, I enjoyed the best beef tartare in the city while watching a parade, and I did all of this from the comfort of a spectacular patio. Everything we ate was delicious. The venison was perfectly cooked. I mean perfectly. It may be a new restaurant, but this chef knows his stuff."
