Looking to satisfy your appetite for vegan fare?
Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top eateries serving vegan food around Minneapolis, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to satisfy your cravings.
1. The Herbivorous Butcher
Topping the list is The Herbivorous Butcher. Located at 507 First Ave. NE in East Bank-Nicollet Island, the health market and eatery is the highest rated vegan restaurant in Minneapolis, boasting 4.5 stars out of 156 reviews on Yelp. It serves a wide variety of plant-based meats and cheeses.
"The Italian cold cut sandwich was so good," said Yelper Lisa S. "I ordered it at the recommendation of the gal working there and I'm so glad I did. Probably the best sandwich I've ever had!"
2. May Day Cafe
Next up is Powderhorn Park's May Day Cafe, situated at 3440 Bloomington Ave. With 4.5 stars out of 127 reviews on Yelp, the breakfast and brunch spot with several vegan offerings has proven to be a local favorite.
"I got a sandwich with vegan sausage and was happy with my choice. Cute local spot that is worth the trip," wrote Yelper Keith B.
3. Galactic Pizza
Whittier's Galactic Pizza, located at 2917 Lyndale Ave. South, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the pizzeria four stars out of 277 reviews. The shop offers vegan versions of several of its signature pies.
"Just moved to Minneapolis and excited to try all the top 10 restaurants," said Yelper Becca P. "Galactic pizza is on every list and website for the best pizza. I was even more excited when I saw their vegan selection. ... Their vegan cheese is the best I've ever had. Ever."
4. Pizza Nea
Pizza Nea in East Bank-Nicollet Island is another go-to, with four stars out of 192 Yelp reviews. You can make your pizza vegan by substituting a Herbivorous Butcher product. Head over to 306 E. Hennepin Ave. to try it for yourself.
"They execute the best vegan pizza in the Twin Cities with meat substitutes from the nearby Herbivorous Butcher," said Yelper Laura R. "We love this place."
5. Trio Plant-based
Finally, over in Whittier, check out Trio Plant-based, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 59 reviews on Yelp. You can find the vegan and vegetarian spot, which offers comfort food and more, at 610 W. Lake St.
"You absolutely have to stop here if you're in Minneapolis," said Yelper Victor G. "The food is excellent, the ambiance is lovely and the service is great."
