It's time for another look at notable crimes reported by SFPD's Tenderloin Station in the weeks since our last roundup. Unless otherwise noted, all details come directly from police reports.

Victim loses cellphone in midnight attack

An unknown suspect attacked a 51-year-old man around midnight on April 7th, at the intersection of Turk and Leavenworth streets. The suspect stole the victim’s cellphone, fled, and has not been identified.

Man loses phone in two-on-one attack

Around 2 a.m. on April 4th, two men said to be 19 or 20 years old punched a 40-year-old man near the intersection of Turk and Leavenworth streets. The suspects stole the older man’s phone and have not been identified. 

70 suspects arrested in day-long operation

SFPD arrested 70 people on April 3rd in a day-long “fugitive recovery operation,” booking 67 people of them into county jail. Although there was no reportable force used during the arrests, three of the suspects were transported to local hospitals for medical care.

According to SFPD, 50 of the suspects were wanted on outstanding warrants throughout the Bay Area. The operation was one of several similar sting efforts conducted by SFPD in the Tenderloin in recent months.

Man punched, injured after argument

A 58-year-old man was engaged in an argument with a man said to be 35 years old on the 200 block of Golden Gate Avenue (near Leavenworth) around 10:40 a.m. on April 3rd, when the younger man punched the victim and injured him. The suspect has not been arrested. 

Arrest made in phone robbery

Around 1:15 p.m. on March 31st, a 26-year-old man punched a 31-year-old man in the face on the 300 block of Ellis Street (near Mason) and stole his phone. The younger man fled on foot, but was later located and arrested by Tenderloin police. 

Woman stabbed and robbed in home

A 50-year-old man entered the residence of a 32-year-old woman on the 400 block of Hyde Street (near Ellis) around 1:23 p.m. on March 31st. 

The woman was home at the time the burglar entered, and confronted him when he tried to steal her television and DVD player. The suspect then stabbed her with a knife. The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the suspect was arrested at the scene. 

Man shoved, robbed by unknown suspect

Around 4:38 p.m. on March 28th, a man said to be 30 years old pushed another man, also 30, near the intersection of Larkin and Eddy streets. After knocking the victim to the ground, the suspect stole his phone. No arrest has been made. 

Teens assault, rob man near Westfield Mall

A 28-year-old man was surrounded by seven teenage boys at the Westfield Mall (on Market near Powell Street) around 5:07 p.m. on March 26th. The teens punched the victim, then stole his cellphone. The victim suffered an abrasion on the left side of his head, but refused medical treatment. All of the suspects remain at large.
