The Florence opens in Sabre Springs with New American fare

A New American restaurant has debuted in the neighborhood. Called The Florence, the fresh arrival is located at 13480 Evening Creek Drive North, Suite 150, in Sabre Springs.

The restaurant is named after San Diego long distance open water swimming legend Florence Chadwick, who was the first woman to swim the English Channel in both directions — setting a time record in both directions, per its website. The 10,000-square-foot indoor space and two-acre outdoor space will include a restaurant, cocktail bar and cafe. It is currently serving breakfast and lunch, with plans to expand to dinner and cocktail service.

The Florence has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a four-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.

Aurianna B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 26, wrote, "Amazing! Hospitality, food and atmosphere were all fantastic. Chris, the GM, was thorough and accommodating. We asked about the décor and he gave us a brief history."

And Maureen D. wrote, "Such a great space! A wide variety of different tables everywhere and a big bar section. The decorations are so interesting. The coddled egg breakfast was so yummy!"

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. The Florence is open from 7 a.m.–2 p.m. on weekdays. (It's closed on weekends.)
